Guide for authors – Institut Scientifique de Rabat

The "Institut Scientifique" publishes three series (see Aims and Scope):

"Bulletin de l’Institut Scientifique" is the continuation of the old "Bulletin de la Société des Sciences Naturelles et Physiques du Maroc", which published original articles, brief notes, and multidisciplinary series since 1976 until 2000; date of split of the bulletin on two series: Série Sciences de la Terre (Earth Sciences Serie) and Série Sciences de la Vie (Life Sciences Serie). One issue per year, worldwide distributed. No submission, or processing fees are required. We notice that all articles of the "Bulletin de l’Institut Scientifique" are Open Access.
"Travaux de l’Institut Scientifique": including monographs, dissertations, conference proceedings, maps. constitute the four series of Travaux de l’Institut Scientifique:
1. The Travaux de l'Institut Scientifique, Série Géologie et Géographie Physique.
2. The Travaux de l'Institut Scientifique, Série Zoologie.
3. The Travaux de l'Institut Scientifique, Série Botanique.
4. The Travaux de l'Institut Scientifique, Série Générale.

We notice that the Travaux de l’Institut Scientifique are irregular publications and worldwide distributed. No submission, or processing fees are required. All articles of the Travaux de l’Institut Scientifique are Open Access.

"Documents de l’Institut Scientifique" include reports, work documents. irregular publications and have limited distribution. No submission, or processing fees are required. All products of the Documents de l’Institut Scientifique are Open Access.

These series are open to all scientific products linked to nature in Morocco, in the Mediterranean region and eventually elsewhere in the world (see Aims and Scope). Access and submission to the bulletin of the Scientific Institute are free. This journal provides immediate submission and access to its content, on the base of the principle to make research available to the public freely.

Submission of articles is free of charge.
Publication of articles is also free of charge.

The admitted languages are English (first priority) and French. For French written articles, an "Abridged English version" (2 to 3 pages) has to be included after abstracts in the manuscript.

Each submitted manuscript has to fulfill all the criteria required by the Editorial Committee to be accepted, and it will be peer reviewed by experts in the relevant field of research appointed by the Editorial Committee. The authors are required to suggest at least three (two international and one national) reviewers (Reviewers list). After the reviewers reports of the manuscript, the Editorial Board decides the final acceptance or rejection of manuscript. Later, a letter of the final decision of will be sent to the authors.

Submission of the manuscript must be by email to the Publication Service via the following email addresses: edition.israbat@gmail.com.

The first or corresponding author has to send two letters:

A submission letter stating that: (a template)
- All co-authors approve the submission of the manuscript;
- The submitted manuscript has not been previously published (even partially) and will not be submitted to another journal before the response of the Editorial Board.
A copyright letter stating that: (a template)
- The author and co-authors indemnify publications of the 'Institut scientifique', the Editorial team, the Editorial board, International and National Scientific Comities hold them harmless from any loss, expense or damage caused by a claim or suit by a third party for copyright infringement, or any suit arising out of any breach of the foregoing warranties as a result of publication of my/our article.
- The author and co-authors also warrant that the submitted article contains no libelous or unlawful statements and does not contain material or instructions that might cause harm or injury.

Any irregularity (plagiarism, piracy or recovery of data without permission from the authors and/or publishers, offenses against natural or legal persons...), will be severely condemned by the Editorial Board. The authors have to assume their full responsibility and consequences. see Plagiarism.

PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS

(Especially for 'Bulletin de l'Institut Scientifique')

Except for special reason, the manuscript should consist of the classic chapters in scientific publications, namely: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Opt for a simple style, with short and relevant sentences. For the presentation, the following standards must be met.

A4 Format

Title of reasonable length; Times 14, centered, lowercase.

Author(s): first name (lowercase) and name (small cap); postal and email addresses of all authors; mark with an asterisk the name of the corresponding author.

Abstract: in the language of the manuscript; maximum ½ page.

English abstract: translate the title as well.

Arabic abstract: recommended but not mandatory; translate the title as well.

Keywords: 4 to 6, after each abstract in the same language.

Abridged English version (2 to 3 pages): if the article is in another language. This version must briefly present the methodology and the main results, with the possibility to references to the figures and the references list; paragraph titles, but only one order (no subtitle).

Text: 20-25 pages maximum, Times 10, 1.5 spaced.

Important details:

- Latin scientific names in italics;
- Avoid as much as possible the footnotes;
- Decimals use "," in French (e.g. 1,25) and "." English (e.g. 1.25.);
- Insert non-breaking space before ":" and ";"
- For bibliographic quotes, follow the following examples: ... According to Sabhaoui (1988), these species ...; .... This section is incomplete (Ghardid 1957) ...; ... This is a continental climate (Karbid & Bouachouch 1994) ...; ... This assumption is not valid (Chekrouni et al. 1998).

1^sd order title: Times 10, BOLD CAPITAL, centered.
2^nd order title: Times 10, bold lowercase, left justified.
3^rd order title: Times 10, bold italic lowercase, left justified.
4^th order title: Times 10, lean lowercase, preceded by a digit (e.g. 1.).

Illustrations : good quality required. Figures (graphs, drawings, photographs, maps, etc., with graphic scale) and Tables separately numbered; think about readability in case of reduction. Provide a caption of all the illustrations with titles translated into English. References in the text: (Fig. 1), (Fig. 3–5), (Tab. 1), (Tab. 2–4).
Figures in jpeg format for photos; jpeg and excel formats for graphics. Tables in Word or Excel.

Acknowledgements: at the end of text just before the references.

References: strictly limited to those noted in the text; respect alphabetical order and chronological order in case of same author(s); full titles and names of periodicals (without abbreviations); if more than 3 authors, be limited to the first three names followed by et al.; follow the following models.

L'Institut Scientifique édite 3 séries de publications (voir Aims and Scope) :

Bulletin de l’Institut Scientifique (Continuation du Bulletin de la Société des Sciences Naturelles et Physiques du Maroc) : articles originaux, notes brèves... Série multidisciplinaire (1976-2000), spécialisée depuis 2001 en 2 sections, Sciences de la Terre et Sciences de la Vie. Un numéro par an. Distribution mondiale. Open Access.
Travaux de l’Institut Scientifique: monographies, mémoires, actes de colloques, cartes... 4 séries : Série Générale, Sér. Géologie et Géographie physique, Sér. Botanique et Sér. Zoologie. Parution irrégulière. Distribution mondiale. Open Access.
Documents de l’Institut Scientifique: rapports, documents de travail.... Parution irrégulière. Distribution limitée.

Ces séries sont ouvertes à toutes les productions scientifiques (voir Aims and Scope) ayant trait à la nature au Maroc, dans la région méditerranéenne et éventuellement ailleurs dans le monde. L’Accès et la soumission à la revue sont gratuits. Cette revue fournit la soumission et l'accès libre immédiat à son contenu en se basant sur le principe de rendre la recherche disponible au public gratuitement.

La soumission d'un article est gratuite.
La publication d'un article est gratuite.

Les langues admises sont l'anglais ou le français, dans ce dernier cas un "Abridged English version" (2 à 3 pages) au début du texte est obligatoire.

Les publications sont assujetties d'abord à l'admission par le Comité Editorial, puis elles sont soumises à une évaluation scientifique par des évaluateurs désignés par le Comité Editorial. Les auteurs sont tenus de proposer au moins trois (deux internationaux et un national) examinateurs (liste des examinateurs). La décision finale d'acceptation ou non des manuscrits revient au Comité éditorial.

Le manuscrit doit être soumis par Email adressé au Service d'édition (edition.israbat@gmail.com) avec une lettre affirmant que 1) tous les auteurs approuvent la demande de publication, 2) ce même manuscrit n'a pas fait l'objet de publication antérieure (même partiellement) et ne sera pas soumis à une autre revue tant qu'il n'a pas la réponse de l'Institut Scientifique (modèle de lettre disponible ici).

Les auteurs sont seuls responsables de toute irrégularité : plagiats (voir Plagiarism), piratage ou reprise de données sans autorisation des auteurs et/ou des éditeurs, offenses contre des personnes physiques ou morales...) constatée ou non par le Comité éditorial et/ou les évaluateurs.

Consignes pratiques

(Spécialement pour 'Bulletin de l'Institut Scientifique')

Sauf exception pour raison particulière, le manuscrit doit comprendre les chapitres classiques dans les publications scientifiques, soit : Introduction, Matériel et méthodes, Résultats, Discussion et Conclusion. Opter pour un style simple, avec des phrases courtes, pertinentes. Pour la présentation, les normes suivantes doivent être respectées.

Format A4

Titre de longueur raisonnable ; Times, 14, centré, caractères minuscules.

Auteur(s) : prénom (en minuscule) et nom (petite majuscule) ; adresses postales et électroniques de tous les auteurs ; marquer d’un astérisque le nom de l’auteur correspondant.

Résumé : dans la langue du manuscrit ; maximum ½ page.

Abstract : résumé anglais ; traduire titre aussi.

Résumé arabe : recommandé, mais non obligatoire ; traduire titre aussi.

Mots clés : 4 à 6, après chaque résumé, dans la même langue.

Version abrégée en anglais « Abridged English version» (2 à 3 pages) : si article dans une autre langue ; traduire titre aussi. Cette version doit présenter sommairement la méthodologie et l'essentiel des résultats, avec possibilités de renvois aux illustrations et aux références bibliographiques ; titres de paragraphes possibles, mais d'un seul ordre (pas de sous-titres).

Texte : maximum 20-25 pages, police Times 10, interligne 1,5.

Détails importants :

- noms scientifiques latins en italique ;
- éviter au maximum les notes infrapaginales ;
- nombres décimaux : utiliser "," en français (ex. 1,25) et "." en anglais (ex. 1.25) ;
- insérer espace insécable avant ":" et ";"
- pour les citations bibliographiques, suivre les exemples suivants : ...Selon Sabhaoui (1988), ces espèces... ; ....Cette coupe est incomplète (Ghardid 1957)... ; ...Il s'agit d'un climat continental (Karbid & Bouachouch 1994) ... ; ...Cette hypothèse n'est pas valable (Chekrouni et al. 1998).

Titre 1^er ordre: Times 10, MAJUSCULE GRAS, centré.
Titre 2^ème ordre : Times 10, minuscule gras, justifié à gauche.
Titre 3^ème ordre : Times 10, minuscule gras italique, justifié à gauche.
Titre 4^ème ordre : Times 10, minuscule maigre, précédé d'un chiffre (ex. 1.).

Illustrations : bonne qualité exigée ; Figures (courbes, dessins, photos, cartes etc., avec échelle graphique) Tableaux à numéroter séparément ; penser à la lisibilité en cas de réduction ; fournir sur feuille à part liste de toutes les illustrations avec titres et leurs traductions en anglais ; renvois dans le texte : (Fig. 1), (Fig. 3–5), (Tab. 1), (Tab. 2–4).
Figures sous format Jpeg pour les photos et sous format jpeg et excel pour les graphiques. Tableaux sous format word ou excel.

Remerciements : à la fin du texte juste avant les références.

Références : strictement limitées à celles signalées dans le texte ; respecter ordre alphabétique, et ordre chronologique si même(s) auteur(s) ; titres et noms de périodiques en entier (sans abréviations) ; si plus de 3 auteurs, se limiter aux 3 premiers noms suivis de « et al. » ; suivre rigoureusement les modèles suivants :
